Restart: I'm a stranger here.

I've been thinking of giving up this blog as a non-starter, and then again I've been thinking of redefining the blog and what it's all about.  But no, having just reread my explanation, I'm fine with that. And today at least I think I'm going to try to find a way to keep this going.

Still, I'm going to have to try to make an appearance here a little more often. Consider this post a new start. I'm not denying anything I've written here so far, just drawing down my ambitions a little. I'm going to try to post at least once a week, preferably two or three, but most of those posts are going to be brief, just taking notice of the good stuff I'm finding from other bloggers.

The focus is the same: the Gospel. And yet, I'm shifting the view a little. I've been reading the Sermon on the Mount lately (Matthew 5-7), and it's flooring me. I mean, it's getting to me, and it's making me wonder if I've ever really understood my friend Jesus, so I think I'm going to be parking there for a while.

Meanwhile, if you've visited here before you'll note I've changed the title. Now it's called, A Stranger Here, because I've found my previous title was shared by too many other ministries, gospel quartets, and blogs. Now it's called A Stranger Here simply because I think the more I understand the gospel of Jesus, the more strange I feel in this world. That strangeness, that sense of alienation, that realization is a great gift. If we are truly being sanctified day by day, as the Bible says we are, then we are getting stranger and stranger, thank God for that.

I'll be back soon. Maybe with some thoughts about the very "strange" beatitudes.

And not fitting in, or becoming more of a stranger; brings us closer to realizing just how much we are known.
