3.  Rockin' Chair by The Band is the song on my mind lately. It's one of those songs (written by Robbie Robertson) that seem to emerge from the mists of time rather than from the mind of the songwriter. Of course The Band specialized in this sort of "historical" storytelling, usually told from one character's point of view (Acadian Driftwood, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, King Harvest Has Surely Come). This one has grown on me over the years.
