That all sounds good. I'm all for healthy doses of dopamine.

Has the lockdown been a mistake? I think it's a useful question. This guy certainly thinks so. The question is interesting from a health standpoint, and also from a political one. I wonder if in some states people may feel like the government is reopening the lockdown too slowly. In other words, there may be a price to be paid in the coming state elections.

One of the things I've enjoyed during the lockdown has been ancestry research, mostly on Ancestry.com. My wife's American forebears go back to the Mayflower, and mine go back to Jamestown in the 1630s. While I've learned a lot about the Pilgrims over the years (most recently from Philbrick's Mayflower: A Story of Courage, Community and War), I know very little about Jamestown. Maybe this book will be next.

This article says the debate is essentially between the risk-averse and the risk-tolerant.
America is polarized not just politically but in its attitude to risk. Half the nation is so risk-averse it wants its teachers to give children “trigger-warnings” before showing or telling them anything unpleasant, wants to ban peanuts and sugary snacks from schools, and wants to outlaw smoking The other half is so accepting of risk that it plays with guns, drives too fast, eats fatty food, and puffs on cigars. Present this divided population with Covid-19 and you have the perfect recipe for rancorous disagreement.

I've been listening to the farewell concert of the Barcelona Gipsy Balkan Orchestra, which is a great 90-minutes dopamine assist:
