54 Days and Counting

This week is providing a host of new polls, causing some significant jags in the RCP polling averages. Biden's lead nationally has risen to 7.5% from 6.9%. In the Battleground States his lead has increased from 3.2% to 3.7% (mostly due to the 2 latest polls in Minnesota, which have Biden up by 9 and 8 %).

Bob Woodward's new book dropped yesterday. Somehow the man got hours of interview time with Trump and with many of his inner circle. This has to have been one of the strangest decisions Trump has ever made (and he's made a few). Perhaps Trump's attraction to celebrity even extends to celebrity journalists like Woodward, but he should have known nothing good could come of this. Does the man even want to win this election?

A Trump supporter on my Facebook feed said yesterday, "This is a contest of ideas, not of men." But of course it is a contest of men spouting ideas, and also a contest, simply, between men (since they will tend to spout any "idea" that will help them get elected). In any case, this is something you say when you can't defend the person as a person . . . you change the subject to ideas!
