Plague Journal (10)

You wonder when the country will hit the peak of the curve. I assume that's when the number of deaths per day begins to decline and continues to trend downward. Has Washington hit that point yet? Experts say it will be weeks before New York gets there.

Then of course there is the growing national debate about when and how we should "restart" the economy. And where. Is it safe to send people back to work in some states while others are still struggling? When is it ok to open the restaurants? Do you wait till there are no deaths from the vrius? Or no new cases?

You can see the outline of this debate emerging with one side saying we need to get the country back to work and the other saying no, we need to save lives first.

Meanwhile, on the homefront, each day kind of runs together. Everyone is commenting about this on social media. Speaking of social media, most of what I see are attempts at humor. People are trying to use it to cheer one another up. Toilet paper jokes lead the way, of course. It's as if someone turned on the spigot for "Dad Jokes" full blast.

It looks like another lovely day outside. I'm going to keep this short today and go make myself useful.  Until tomorrow, then.
