Plague Jounral (15): Goodbye to the jazzmen

Rainy day.

I've been working from home through the mornings, then in the afternoon walking to the store, cooking, sometimes napping a little. I've been snacking a lot too, which is probably something I should be careful about. Once this virus is beaten our next health-problem may just be obesity!

I've been listening to a lot of jazz music and crooners during my time at the computer. This morning, learning that Ellis Marsalis had been taken by the virus, I put on some of his music. He always had that New Orleans sound, not far from the honky tonk, a strong flavor of ragtime. Listening to this stuff feels a little like time traveling.

Another accomplished jazz artist who passed away yesterday (but not from the virus) was guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. I only really knew of him through listening to the musical podcast of his son, John Pizzarelli (also an accomplished jazz guitarist, of course), Radio Deluxe. Here's Bucky with John Vignola playing Moonglow.

Goodbye to a couple of great old gentleman. The old jazzmen are passing from the scene like veterans of a long ago war.
