All but 4 of those countries ahead of them on this list, countries that have done more testing per million, have fewer deaths per million. Usually far fewer.
I'm surprised to not be hearing much about stepping up testing as a concomitant to getting people back to work. Most of the countries that instituted large-scale testing did so before the virus began to spread like wildfire. A few only established testing programs afterward (such as Italy). Those that were able to do so early in the crisis have managed to keep the infection-rates and deaths to a minimum.

The days have been beautiful lately. I've been taking daily bike rides down to the lighthouse. This is one of the highlights of my day.

The spreading of wild conspiracy theories concerning the coronavirus seems to be a MAGA thing. Many in the strange world of "Christian" prophetic ministries (the quotation marks are to indicate dripping with sarcasm), which often see Donald Trump as some sort of heaven-sent man of God, have taken to spreading these strange conspiracy theories via social media. All of which makes this article, On Christians Spreading Corona Conspiracies, timely indeed.

I am not making any theological statement here about the validity or non-validity of prophecy in general, but only saying that the world of prophetic ministries as promoted at Charisma News is so thoroughly unChristian as to amaze me that people could fall for it. These people are leading many astray. These "ministries" are merely profitable scams, fleecing the gullible. These are the people that many of the Epistles of the New Testament warn about.

Mona Charen's take on the Tara Reade/Joe Biden thing is very good.

And here's that long-awaited article about peeing outdoors.

I am a fan of the Cowboy novel. Some of them are very good, and some of them are just shallow entertainments. But bookstores up here in New England have no place for them. There is no "Westerns" section like there is a "Science Fiction" or a "Mysteries" section. Lucky for me, there are quite a few Little Free Libraries in my area, and some of them contain Westerns. I've picked up two this week!

Finally, just by way of warning, I'm going to be doing more writing here on Biblical texts and theological subjects.

I'll finish with some music. Jesse Winchester was a fine songwriter. Every now and then I like to revisit his simple and touching music.
