48 Days and Counting

The NPR electoral map has Biden at 268 electoral votes to Trump's 169, with 101 toss-ups.

The folks at Real Clear Politics are a little more cautious, putting Biden at 222, Trump 125, with 191 toss-ups.

Many of the battleground states are close, within the margin of error, but leaning Biden. All this represents a fuzzy snapshot, maybe one with a little glare from the sun, a little blur from the jitter of the camera, but one in which you can make out two runners, and one of them seems pretty clearly to be ahead of the other.

In the meantime, we have more evidence that we live in dangerous times. One of the markers of a pre-revolutionary condition is that thought leaders tend to excuse or condone violence. Instead of promoting reason, they promote conspiracies and apocalyptic warnings. Latest case in point, we have Rick Joyner, who commands a significant following among Charismatic Christians, suggesting--on the authority of his own personal "vision"--that Christians ought to fight a war with left-wing activists.
