Predictions . . . aah, predictions.
I think Biden is going to win this election because he simply doesn't have to do as much convincing as Trump. He doesn't have to move the needle for as many undecided voters, or move it as far, as Trump does. It is an easier task to convince people that America needs a change than to convince them that the man who has been in charge over the last 4 years should stay in charge.
Working against Biden is, well, Biden himself. Working against Trump is, of course, Trump himself. But there haven't been a lot of notable gaffes from Biden lately, and Trump gives his opponents fodder for their anti-Trump ads each time he goes on a Twitter rant.
So, yes, at this point in time, my "gut feeling," which is admittedly worth very little, tells me that Biden will win this thing. But of course, there are two months to go. The opposition researchers on both sides have been hard at work. The point of this research is to knock the opponent back on his heels, to get him playing defense, constantly trying to douse the flames engendered by the latest revelation. Jeffery Goldberg's piece in The Atlantic collecting Trump's many disparaging comments concerning America's war dead is the first of these from the Biden camp.
There will of course be return fire.
